If you are getting a home that is newly built and has never been lived in, everything about the home will feel brand new. Being the first owner of a home is exciting because there are a number of things that you can set up or select for the home. For a brand new home, you may be able to select your window treatments, the plants and trees that are inside of your lawn, and even the light bulbs in the home. The one thing that you may not be able to pick in the home is the appliances. If the builder has placed appliances in the new home, you may want to trade this in for some of your own. Here are three reasons to change out the appliances in a new home.

They may not be as new as you think

Just because the home is new does not mean that the appliances are new. It is possible that the home builder could get a scratched and dented special when it comes to appliances for homes. The appliances in the new home could also be pulled from another home or build that did not go right. If you want to be sure that you have brand new appliances, you can sell the appliances in your new house and purchase brand new ones fresh off the production line.

You should size the appliances for your needs

If you are living in a newly built neighborhood, there is a good chance that all of the homes have appliances of the same size. If you have a large family or if you plan to live alone, the standard appliances may not work. A family with a lot of children will need to have a double wide refrigerator. A single person or a small family with minimalist living may wish to have a slim line refrigerator to save on the space. If you purchase your own appliances, you can fill in the space that you need and use the refrigerator of the size that you desire.

Bring in the appliances from your current place

If you are moving from an old home or if you owned the appliances in your rental, you may wish to bring these over from your past home. If these appliances still work and are relatively new, you can make money to purchase other home furnishings by selling the appliances that come in your new home. Moving in the appliances that you love and trust may also stop any learning curve that you may have with newer or updated appliances.
